Sarah McCartney

About Sarah

Writer-turned-perfumer Sarah McCartney composes adventurous fragrances for 4160Tuesdays, handcrafting small batches of 1 to 200 bottles.

Her clients and collaborators include London Transport Museum, Bittersuite, Peroni, London University School of Advanced Studies, Tinder, Google, Dulwich Picture Gallery, one princess and a sheikh.
Using early 20th century methods, with 21st century materials (and the internet), Sarah has built a worldwide reputation and fanbase. Her fragrances are stocked in exclusive perfumeries around the world, including The Scent Bar in Los Angeles, 10 Corso Como in Milan, and Roullier White in Dulwich.

Sarah’s perfumes, described by perfume archivist James Craven, are “a wardrobe of highly sophisticated scents which one can also play with”. They all have their own stories, which she enjoys telling with wit and enthusiasm, sharing some of perfumery’s secrets along the way.

4160Tuesdays operates out of Sarah's studio in West London, where all the creation, bottling and dispatch happens in a charming space - a former Victorian builders' yard - a world away from the glamour of the multinational fragrance industry.
