Salty breezes and warmed, honeyed resins give way to boozy sour cherries and blackened beach woods. This scent is inspired by the sculptural cliffs of The Algarve in the fall months.
After all this time
the midday sun still activates
the sticky resins of the rock roses.
Their syrupy vapor envelops crumbling rocks
where dinosaurs once splayed their giant feet
Like a palette knife dragging paint
A memory of a sip of Ginjinha on the tongue
Which has never known thirst.
Warmed clusters of pollen cling to the legs of bees
Sifting through honeyed wildflowers. Petals gently releasing
In the warm ocean breeze
Which carves and sculpts dramatic cliffs
With tiny crystals of salt like chisels
Emoceans like water are home to elegant whales
Singing the ancient songs of their ancestors.
